About This Tour

The classic Koh Lanta day trip, and still the best introduction to the Trang archipelago. In one day you swim through a pitch-dark limestone tunnel into a hidden lagoon, snorkel three different reefs, and have lunch on a beach that regularly turns up on "best in Thailand" lists.

We run this trip on a 2 x 250hp speedboat with a maximum of 35 guests, so nobody is queuing for fins. Our guides are from Koh Lanta and have been diving these reefs for years.

Highlight

  • Swim 80 metres through the Emerald Cave into a hidden beach ringed by cliffs
  • Snorkel the soft-coral gardens at Koh Ngai, home to blacktip reef sharks
  • One hours of free time on Koh Kradan, voted one of Thailand's finest beaches
  • Small group - never more than 35 guests on board
  • Round-trip hotel transfer anywhere on Koh Lanta

What to Expect

After hotel pick-up you check in at Saladan Pier. The boat runs south to Koh Mook where you swim into the Emerald Cave with your guide and a headlamp - the tunnel is dark for about 80 metres before it opens into a bright lagoon. From there we snorkel at Koh Ngai, break for lunch on Koh Kradan, and finish the day at the Koh Chuek soft coral wall before returning to Lanta around 16:30.

Who Is This Tour For?

Suitable for confident swimmers aged 4 and above. The Emerald Cave swim is done with a life jacket and a guide, so you do not need to be a strong swimmer, but you should be comfortable in deep water and in the dark for a few minutes. Not recommended for pregnant travellers or anyone with limited mobility.

I Know Before You Go

  • Pick-up starts 08:00-09:00 depending on your hotel; exact time is confirmed the evening before
  • The Emerald Cave can close at high tide or in heavy swell - the guide will swap in an extra snorkelling stop
  • The trip does not run during the annual park closure, usually mid-June to mid-October
